Biography

Harold T. Daniel, Jr., has practiced law in Atlanta, Georgia for over 40 years—first in a litigation boutique, later in an international law firm. He now enjoys a “senior statesman practice” at Harold Daniel Law LLC, which also serves as “Of Counsel” to Webb Daniel Friedlander. At Webb Daniel Friedlander, he advises on trial issues, assists with amicus curiae support, and presides over moot courts.

Mr. Daniel has represented plaintiffs and defendants in civil business litigation involving complex issues of fact and law. He also has represented clients (primarily defendants) in personal injury cases. Mr. Daniel has tried approximately one hundred cases to juries in Georgia, Florida, and Texas. He also has served as expert witness in approximately 50 cases, testifying on such subjects as attorney's fees and professional conduct. In addition, Mr. Daniel has been appointed as Special Master in a number of matters, and is a panelist of The International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR), Distinguished Neutrals, General Commercial Panel and Banking, Accounting and Financial Services Panel. His vast experience makes him an excellent arbitrator and mediator.

Mr. Daniel has been active in the legal profession, serving as President of the State Bar of Georgia and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He has served on committees of the American Bar Association, including the Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary and the Commission on Separation of Powers and Judicial Independence. He also has served as Trustee and Board Chair of the Georgia Legal Services Program.

Mr. Daniel’s community service includes serving on the boards of the Atlanta Girls’ School and All Saints-St. Luke’s Episcopal Home for the Retired (Canterbury Court). He also has been a Trustee of The Children’s School in Atlanta, and has been a member of the Vestry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Hal is an Eagle Scout, and has served as a member of the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and received the council’s Whitney A. Young, Jr. Award. Along with his wife, Laurie Webb Daniel, Mr. Daniel is a founding member of the Oglethorpe Natural History and Preservation Society, a social organization formed for the pursuit of group camping adventures in damp but beautiful settings throughout the South.
